About the game:
The throne is rightfully yours! Ascend to the throne and lead the kingdom into a new golden age or catastrophic decline. From 3 to 3000 other players can become a council of quarrelsome nobles, supporting or rejecting your decisions. The fate of the entire kingdom depends on every step. Engage in politics, resolve land disputes, and prepare for the rebellion of treacherous vassals plotting against you.
King of the Castle is a multiplayer fantasy game where power changes hands every minute and new intrigues are woven, while the narrative is driven by the players. It has two co-op modes.
Play with friends:
in online mode, your friends can join the game as nobles and vote in the council through a browser, mobile device, or computer. Only you, as the full-fledged monarch, fully control the game.
Play on Twitch:
in broadcast mode, King of the Castle fully integrates with the Twitch API. As the broadcast host, you are assigned the role of monarch, and with the !join command in chat, your audience will be able to join the game as noble councillors (up to 3000 people). Viewers will be able to vote for or reject your decisions and decide the fate of the kingdom.
Become a wise ruler
- Make your choices carefully in the role of Monarch. All your decisions depend on the votes of your treacherous nobles.
- Balance the competing demands of the different regions of your kingdom — each with its own desires, hardships, and ongoing conspiracies.
- Bribe, persuade, or intimidate your way through complex votes that threaten not to go your way, or try changing the laws to give yourself additional veto rights.
Beware of betrayal
- Expose the schemes of cunning nobles planning a coup: they want to replace you with their puppet.
- Tax the lands causing you inconvenience and watch the reserves of gold (and salt) grow!
- Be careful: if the nobles' level of disobedience becomes too high, they will rebel against you, and infighting will tear the kingdom apart!
Maintain harmony
Upon entering the game, the nobles from your council are distributed across different sides of the kingdom. Today the rulers of the lands are ready to kill each other, and tomorrow's changes will turn them into your allies, albeit unreliable ones.
Each noble votes on behalf of one of these lands:
- The windy north, where the most worthy chieftains feast in luxurious halls atop snow-covered mountains.
- The prosperous coast, where cunning patricians possess untold wealth and lead trade guilds.
- The vast east, where ruthless counts build grim castles in impenetrable forest thickets.
- The unconquered frontier, where stern barons guard the borders and train troops.
- The sultry south, where devout nobles dwell in sun-scorched estates and pray to the ninth god for salvation.
Depending on your decisions and the council's votes, during your reign some lands will grow rich and prosper, while others will be consumed by chaos and anarchy, and ultimately turn against you.
Your task as monarch is to keep an eye on all the lands!
