About the game:
RIOT – Civil Unrest is the long-awaited strategy game: a real-time riot simulator, thanks to which the player can find themselves in the very heart of world-famous clashes. The following campaigns await you: Indignados (Spain), Arab Spring (Egypt), Keratea (Greece) and NoTAV (Italy). Seventeen single-level scenarios will take you to Rome, Oakland, Paris, London and Ukraine.
Leonard Menchiari, the creator of RIOT – Civil Unrest, is familiar with riots firsthand, since he took part in the NoTAV protests in Italy. He created this game to share with others the stories and feelings familiar to protest participants. What makes a crowd behave so angrily and aggressively? What do police officers feel when facing a crowd that outnumbers them during conflicts? RIOT — Civil Unrest gives players the opportunity to take either side in battles where there can be no winner. Who is right, and who is wrong? Play RIOT — Civil Unrest and draw your own conclusions.
Play on the police side
• Use various crowd control methods: both passive and aggressive.
• Control assault and tactical units, as well as shooter units.
• Call for backup: police trucks, a water cannon or even a tank!
• Decide whether you will use smoke grenades, rubber and plastic bullets, or even live ammunition.
Play on the protesters' side
• Give instructions to protesters (armed or passive) and journalists
• Incite people to furious attacks or try to resolve the situation through tactical regrouping and retreats.
• Attack representatives of the authorities using Molotov cocktails, fireworks, paper bombs, stones, street furniture and the power of the media.
Multiple modes
• Sixteen campaign levels are divided into four scenarios: Keratea (Greece), NoTAV (Italy), Indignados (Spain) and Arab Spring (Egypt).
• Watch the story from both sides: play all 32 levels as protesters or police.
• Single-player mode: play against artificial intelligence.
• Versus mode: play with friends or against them and artificial intelligence on the same computer.
Create your own riots using the level editor (will be available in the preview version)
• Change the environment by using your own background images.
• Place elements, vehicles and obstacles in the required locations.
• Choose and place protesters and police in specific starting positions, give them orders and change their aggression level.
