About the game: 

Lord of the Dark Castle is a casual turn-based roguelike game in a retro style with strategy elements. Move/attack on your turn, and Monsters move/attack on their turn. Each level is randomized and will present new monsters as the Hero goes deeper into the dungeon. The game is played in hardcore mode, which means there is no game saving — death is irreversible!

Game creator's visions and goals

• In this game, monsters are alive: they loot items, use EXACTLY the same armor, weapons and spells as the Hero. Monsters that have gold even enter shops and buy equipment before your Hero gets a chance!

• Random, fast and simple to start. Try it and see if you can get a good start with Fat Loot!

• This is a STRATEGIC dungeon crawler, NOT a brainless dungeon game! Casual does NOT mean easy! Normal mode is quite difficult, and you may have to try many times before you win the game.

• Hand-painted high-resolution 2D art in a dark gothic style.

• High replayability! Every new game is a new experience. Random levels, monster spawns and the choice of various skills provide great variety.

• No skill dependencies — experiment freely! Each skill on its own provides an important strategic advantage.

• Every hit matters! If you make a move that ends next to a monster, the monster will strike first! Don't let this happen.

• All monsters have unique abilities. An “ordinary thief” can be even worse than a dragon! (Yes... you will see... *evil*)

In this game, monsters are alive. Smaller, stronger, smarter mobs to provide an interesting challenge.
