Amazon is expanding Sponsored Products beyond the marketplace. Products from sellers’ advertising campaigns can now be promoted by Amazon Influencer Program participants. Creators select available products, add affiliate links to their content and get paid for clicks to Amazon.
The update is interesting for white-hat e-commerce: another channel is being added to Sponsored Products — traffic from reviews, unboxings, product selections and other influencer content.
How It Works
If a seller has Amazon and beyond placement enabled in Sponsored Products, eligible products may be included in the creator program. There is no need to launch a separate advertising campaign for this — the existing budget, bids and Sponsored Products settings are used.
The creator then selects the product. They choose the required ASIN, create content for it and add an affiliate link. The user follows it to the Amazon product page, while the creator gets paid for valid clicks counted by the system.
There is an important difference from the regular Amazon Associates affiliate program. There, earnings mainly depend on purchases, while Sponsored Products for Creators pays for the advertising click itself. Therefore, product content can be monetized even when some users click but do not complete a purchase.
What Can Be Tested for E-Commerce
The format fits well with familiar UGC: short reviews, unboxings, comparisons, product selections and videos demonstrating the product. Especially for categories that do not require a long warm-up — gadgets, household products, clothing, cosmetics, seasonal products.
A clear setup is also emerging for organic traffic: attract organic traffic with product content and direct the audience straight to Amazon. Your own store, a separate landing page or pre-lander are not required for such a setup.
Amazon Is Testing Automatic Product Enrollment
At the same time, Amazon has started testing Auto-Enroll for some Influencer Program participants. The feature automatically adds eligible products that the creator already promotes to Sponsored Products for Creators. This means there will be no need to manually search for available campaigns and add an ASIN each time.
Auto-Enroll is not yet available for all accounts — Amazon is rolling out the feature gradually. Therefore, affiliates are currently more interested in monitoring the program’s expansion: if creator placements scale, organic e-commerce traffic will gain another monetization option in addition to the traditional sales commission.
