Starting June 24, 2026, Google Ads is updating its gambling policies and allowing online lottery advertising in Vietnam. For media buyers, solo affiliate marketers and large teams tired of constant bans and endless battles with moderation, this is a rare opportunity to enter a densely populated Asian market completely legally.
This update makes it possible to generate large volumes of targeted traffic without gray-hat methods, but at the same time tightens the legal compliance requirements for advertising campaigns.
Under the updated policy, only government entities, official lottery operators, and their direct distributors and authorized agents will be allowed to run campaigns in this market. To pass moderation in this GEO, advertisers will have to comply with strict technical and legal requirements. First, they must provide Google with a valid government license confirming that they are legally authorized to conduct lottery activities in Vietnam. Second, advertising cannot be launched without approval from the platform itself, so each profile will need to be certified within the advertising network in advance.
In addition to document verification, strict restrictions also apply to targeting settings in the advertising dashboard. All user traffic must be strictly age-restricted, with ads shown exclusively to audiences aged 18 and over. Furthermore, safety rules require landing pages and ad creatives to include warnings about the risks of gambling addiction, as well as detailed information about ways to combat problem gambling.
This update gives legally operating teams direct access to their target audience through Google Search and the Google Display Network, whereas lottery advertising was previously banned there. However, it's important to note that these relaxed restrictions apply exclusively to the lottery sector. Moderation of other forms of online gambling remains just as strict, so advertising online casinos, poker, slots or sports betting in Vietnam is still completely prohibited.
