Google Shuts Down Crypto Ads in France Without CASP

France on Lockdown: Google Shuts Down Crypto Ads Without European CASP License

For those driving crypto traffic to France via Google Ads, the old playbook is dead. Starting July 1, 2026, the search giant stopped accepting the local AMF license as a valid document for advertising crypto services. Now, without a pan-European CASP license, your ad account will not pass moderation.

Why This Happened

The transition period in France, during which local licenses could operate in parallel with pan-European ones, has come to an end. Now, the MiCA regulation has become the uniform rule across the entire EU. Google simply aligned with Brussels\' requirements and updated its filters.

What this means in practice:

  • The old French AMF license is no longer valid.

  • A European CASP license is strictly required.

  • Without it, an account loses its financial advertiser status and cannot run crypto offers.

What Broke for Media Buyers

Teams attempting to submit French documents to support the old-fashioned way or relying on moderation bugs have run into three major problems:

  1. Pre-moderation rejections. If there is no verified CASP code in Google's database, the ad is rejected before it even gets impressions. No appeals — just a hard reject.

  2. Bans for circumventing systems. Those who tried masking financial offers as blogs or educational websites are catching instant account bans. Moderation has learned to spot these setups easily.

  3. Payment data verification. The legal entity name on the new license must perfectly match the Google Ads billing profile. Any discrepancy results in an automatic rejection.

Why Obtaining a CASP is Unrealistic

For an affiliate team, obtaining such a license is a complete fantasy. Here are the requirements:

  • Massive authorized capital;

  • A physical office inside the EU;

  • Multiple rigorous security audits;

  • A lengthy approval process.

Simply put, this path is completely unsuited for affiliate marketing.

Two Potential Pathways for Buyers

Option 1. White-label through licensed exchanges. You can operate via sub-accounts of major crypto exchanges that have already cleared compliance with Google and hold a CASP license. Yes, CPA rates will be lower since the exchange takes its cut, but the accounts live and spend stably.

Option 2. Shifting to alternative GEOs. Shutting down campaigns targeting France and moving budgets to regions where moderation doesn't demand European documentation yet. LATAM, Asia, or certain Eastern European countries — where you can keep driving traffic using old methods.

Conclusion

Running gray-hat financial setups in France via Google Ads has become entirely unprofitable. Fast account blocks, expenses on proxies, payment methods, and farming just don't pay off. France is closed for Google Ads traffic. It's time to restructure your setups and transition either to white-label solutions or alternative GEOs.
