Meta's New AI Agent Will Manage Your Social Media Business for Free
On June 3, 2026, Meta presented the Meta Business Agent — smart AI assistants that communicate with customers in WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram. The developers introduced the new feature as virtual employees for businesses of all sizes. The AI agents will handle routine tasks for entrepreneurs and take the pressure off sales departments.

Unlike regular chatbots that deliver cookie-cutter answers, the new AI agents are capable of engaging in live dialogue. They can select products from a catalog based on a buyer's interests and nudge the customer toward making a deposit or a purchase. Communication happens in the customer's native language, matching the company's tone and style.
Beyond customer interactions, the AI generates daily reports on the work done: it aggregates dialogue metrics and analyzes audience engagement. In upcoming updates, the developers promise to expand this functionality, enabling AI agents to conduct comprehensive market research and competitor analysis.
For larger corporations and technically complex tasks, Meta has rolled out a standalone platform — the Business Agent Platform. It supports integration with third-party systems, including Shopify, Zendesk, and Shopee. This allows the bot to check warehouse inventory levels or delivery statuses in real time.
The pilot testing phase of the AI assistants in India, Brazil, and Mexico has already attracted over a million companies. Meta is now opening access to the tool for all regions. At launch, using the AI agents will be free. However, Meta plans to transition this functionality to a paid subscription within a few months.
