Facebook Cracks Down on Financial Offers

New Facebook Moderation Triggers: Financial Offers Hit Hard

Facebook has rolled out a moderation update that triggered a wave of ad account bans. Campaigns related to banking and financial services were hit hardest. Algorithms are en masse rejecting ads, including creatives that had previously been running without issues for months.

What Exactly Triggers Moderation

Algorithms have begun reacting to elements that were previously considered neutral. The following are now subject to restrictions:

  • Bank logos and recognizable payment system branding.

  • Screenshots or schematic UI representations of mobile banking apps.

  • Direct mentions of transferring or receiving funds in ad copy.

  • Audio tracks or voiceovers with phrases mentioning money deposits or transfers.

How This Impacts Operations

Sudden rejections are hitting active campaigns hard. Media buyers are losing accumulated data and budgets due to the forced shutdown of running campaigns. Teams are forced to urgently pause running creatives and rebuild them manually. Due to the increased volume of appeals, review times via Facebook support now take significantly longer.

How to Adapt Creatives

To pass automated review, questionable content must be completely sanitized:

  • Remove any direct references to banking products from videos and layouts.

  • Replace app screenshots with abstract graphics or metaphors.

  • Rewrite scripts and text, using indirect language instead of direct mentions of transactions and accounts.

These measures help lower rejection rates during initial automated checks, but require additional time investments in creating new content.
