On September 3, 2026, TikTok added voice messages, photo carousels, and polls to comments. The goal of the update — is to increase the amount of time users spend under videos.
What was added:

Voice messages up to 60 seconds. Yes, you can now leave an audio message under a video. The feature is available only to users aged 18 and older. To protect against spam and profanity, audio messages will be checked automatically: the system converts speech to text and runs it through moderation filters.

Carousels of up to 9 photos. Previously, you could attach only one static image, but now an entire gallery is available, including Live Photos.

Polls. Creators can launch polls in the comments directly under their videos — with up to 5 answer options.
The update has already started rolling out on iOS and Android worldwide. If the new buttons have not appeared for you yet, check for an app update in the store — the platform will need about a month for the features to become available to everyone.
