Channel Blocks After 10 Complaints: How Telegram Is Fighting Casino Schemes

Telegram has lowered the complaint threshold for channels with casino schemes and signals. Now, receiving 10–15 reports from users is enough for a channel to be blocked on iOS and hidden from search. If complaints continue, the messenger permanently deletes the resource with no possibility of recovery.

How the ban system works

Previously, channels were reviewed manually or only after hundreds of complaints, so setups could last for weeks. Now moderation responds faster:

  • Account quality. The messenger gives priority to complaints marked «Scam» and «Spam» from old aged profiles.

  • Link scanning. After the first complaints, the system checks posts and pinned messages: if they contain casino domains, referral parameters, or URL shorteners, restrictions are imposed faster.

  • Restriction on iOS. First, the channel is hidden on Apple devices so that the messenger does not run into issues with App Store rules.

  • Removal from search and servers. First, the channel disappears from Telegram’s global search, and after repeated complaints it is completely deleted.

Why classic funnels stopped working

The standard setup was built around redirecting traffic from short videos: clips showing big wins were uploaded to TikTok, Reels, or Shorts, while a link to a Telegram channel was placed in the profile bio. The channel published a fabricated betting scheme and step-by-step instructions for funding the balance.

Users lost their deposits and immediately clicked the report button. With a threshold of 10–15 reports, a channel lasts from one to two days. During this time, the setup does not have enough time to recover the costs of resources, video production, and warm-up, and it is not possible to collect repeat deposits from the acquired subscribers.

Moving the funnel to Telegram Mini Apps

To prevent channels from being banned within the first day, teams stopped publishing schemes directly in the feed and are moving the landing page into a WebApp.

In practice, the setup is built like this:

  • No posts with schemes. Channels no longer publish balance screenshots, betting instructions, or referral links in order to avoid triggering filters.

  • Launch through a button. The entire warm-up is hidden inside the mini app: the user is directed to a button in the pinned message or chat menu that opens the WebApp.

  • Content isolation. Inside the app, they launch a game simulator, interactive showcase, or bonus wheel. In Telegram, users can only report the channel itself or a specific post, while the messenger does not check the content of the external website inside the WebApp.

  • Preserving the setup. If the entry channel is still deleted, the web app itself remains on the external server. It can be linked to a new backup channel within a few minutes without rebuilding the entire funnel.

What this means for operations

Lowering the complaint threshold has shut down traffic campaigns through regular posts. To continue working with scheme-based traffic, teams have to make the technical side more complex: involve developers, rent external servers for the WebApp, and maintain a network of backup channels for quick replacement.
