TrafficBack

TrafficBack — is redirecting users to a backup link if the main offer is unavailable or does not suit a specific user.

This happens if the advertiser has disabled the campaign, daily limits have been reached, or the user has an unsuitable GEO, device or browser. Instead of showing the user an error or blank page, the system automatically redirects them to another offer or a general storefront.

How it works in practice

TrafficBack settings are usually configured directly in the tracker or at the affiliate program level. The affiliate marketer specifies the link where irrelevant or «stuck» clicks will be redirected. This can be:

  • Direct replacement — another similar offer.

  • Smartlink — the algorithm automatically selects an offer based on the user's GEO and device.

  • Affiliate network default link — the advertiser's own fallback page (often the least profitable option).

Why it is needed

TrafficBack is needed to avoid losing money on a click that has already been purchased from an advertising network. Even if a specific user does not meet the offer conditions, you can try to monetize them with another product and partially recover the advertising costs.

Important to know

You should not blindly send all low-quality traffic to cheap general storefronts. Some affiliate networks strictly monitor TrafficBack quality, and if too much obvious junk traffic or bots are sent there, it may raise questions about the traffic source.
