Facebook Gets AI Search for Posts

Meta Launches AI Mode in Facebook: Search Across Posts and Reels via Neural Network

Meta Launches AI Mode in Facebook: Search Across Posts and Reels via Neural Network

On June 15, 2026, Meta introduced AI Mode — a new search tab in Facebook. Now, instead of regular keyword search, users can ask questions to the neural network. It gathers answers from public posts, discussions in Groups, and video descriptions in Reels.

In April of this year, Meta released the multimodal neural network Muse Spark, and in May — a separate Forum app for searching across Facebook Groups. AI Mode is the next step that combines all of this into the main Facebook app.

What is Muse Spark

Muse Spark is a model from Meta Superintelligence Labs that can work with text, images, and video, supports visual thinking, and can coordinate the work of multiple AI agents at the same time.

Simply put, it is not just a chatbot, but a system that understands context, analyzes images, and can perform complex multi-step tasks. Muse Spark is the foundation of the new search in Facebook.

Forum App

In May, Meta launched Forum — a separate app that works as a search engine across Facebook Groups. The user asks a question, and AI collects answers from thousands of posts across different groups and provides a summarized response.

Essentially, it is an analog of Reddit, but built on top of already existing Facebook communities. The app is positioned as a place where you can quickly find an answer to a question without manually scrolling through dozens of groups.

What Changed in Facebook

AI Mode is a new search tab in the main Facebook app. Here’s how it works:

  • Question instead of keywords. The user writes “How to choose a crypto wallet for beginners?” or “What Reel trends are working right now?”. The neural network gathers answers from public posts, discussions, and video descriptions.

  • Parsing Groups. AI Mode extracts information from public discussions in Facebook Groups. If there was a detailed discussion of a topic in a group — it will appear in the answer.

  • Reels Analysis. The neural network takes into account Reels video metadata: descriptions, hashtags, and comments. This means that videos that previously only lived in the feed can now appear in search results.

  • Answer Synthesis. Meta AI does not just return a list of links — it collects information from different sources and forms a coherent answer with sources indicated.

What This Means for Those Working with Facebook

The launch of AI Mode changes the rules for everyone who promotes anything through Facebook and Reels.

  • Content in Groups works for reach again. Previously, discussions in groups lived their own life and rarely appeared in general search. Now, a quality breakdown of a topic from a group can appear in an AI Mode response. This means that activity in thematic communities once again brings organic traffic.

  • Reels get a second life. Videos that gained views and were forgotten can now surface in search answers.

  • SEO has appeared inside Facebook. Post titles, video descriptions, and keywords in discussions — all of this now affects whether content will appear in the neural network’s response. It is important to optimize content for questions users are asking.

What to Do Right Now

While AI Mode has only been rolled out in the USA, competition in the new search is low. Here’s what is worth doing:

  1. Check your Groups. If you are an admin or active participant in thematic groups — make sure there are quality, detailed answers to popular questions in the discussions.

  2. Optimize Reels. Add key questions that the video answers to the video descriptions. Use hashtags that people are searching for.

  3. Create content around questions. Think not only about what is interesting to show, but also about what people are asking. AI Mode will pull up answers to questions.

While everyone is waiting for the global release, you can still prepare the base. This will help capture the maximum amount of free traffic when the feature becomes available in all countries.
