TikTok Launches Pro Events: New App to Hand Out Rewards for Activity
TikTok has decided to run an experiment and launched a standalone app, TikTok Pro Events, for the American audience. Instead of building new features into the main app, they created a separate platform dedicated to major global events and holidays. Users in the US can download TikTok Pro Events via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

The regular TikTok feed hooks users through randomness: recipes give way to cute cats, followed by a street interview. In this endless stream, significant events simply get lost. In the new app, everything centers around a specific theme. Its first major test will be the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as TikTok partnered with FIFA this year. Inside the app, users will see more than just goals—they will experience an entire ecosystem with challenges, quizzes, and videos from top creators.
The main highlight of TikTok Pro Events is the rewards. To drive user engagement, TikTok decided to hand out "Stars" for activity. These in-app points will be awarded for views, shares, and completing quizzes. "Stars" can then be exchanged for t-shirts and caps featuring tournament logos or discounts in the TikTok Shop.
However, analysts are skeptical about whether the concept will take off. There is a risk that a standalone app might simply cannibalize users from the main platform. But if the reward system proves successful, the company will be able to launch similar projects for any viral event worldwide.
