Meta has started expanding restrictions on publishing posts with links for Facebook Pages. Owners of business pages without a paid Meta One for Business subscription can now publish no more than two posts with links to external websites per month.
When attempting to publish a third post with a link, the social network blocks the post and offers a paid subscription. Without it, publishing external links at the previous volume will no longer be possible.
How the restrictions work
Meta already tested this limit on a small group of pages in December 2025. Now administrators of a significantly larger number of pages have started receiving warnings about the restriction.
However, the change does not affect news media and registered publications. They can continue publishing links without restrictions to maintain the flow of news content in the feed.
How many views posts with links currently get
The two-link-per-month limit changes the usual posting routine, but posts with external links have already been receiving almost no organic impressions on Facebook for a long time.
According to Meta's report for the first quarter of 2026, 98.7% of all post views in the US come from posts without external links. The share of views of posts with links in the overall feed has steadily declined: in 2022, it was 9.8%, and by the beginning of 2026, it had fallen to 1.3%.
In other words, even before the limits were introduced, the platform's algorithms were reducing impressions for any posts that take users away from the social network to third-party websites.
