Token — is an access key that allows you to log into an account or transfer control of it to third-party services. Depending on the type, a token is used for authorization, connecting software through an API or maintaining an active session.
Types of Tokens
EAAB Token is used when working with Facebook advertising accounts. It allows third-party software to access the advertising account through an API. In traffic arbitrage, such tokens are used, for example, in automated ad launches: the software can create campaigns, change settings, retrieve statistics and perform other actions available to it.
Auth Token is needed to log into an account. Such tokens are used, for example, on X (Twitter), Discord and other services. If a valid Auth Token is already available, authorization can be completed without entering the login and password in the usual way.
OAuth Token is created when a user gives a third-party application access to their account. For example, when logging into a website through an account from another service or when connecting an application. The password is not transferred to the third-party service — a token is used instead.
Session Token relates to an already active session. After a successful login, the service may use such a token to recognize the user during subsequent requests and avoid requiring authorization again. After logging out of the account or ending the session, the token may stop working.
Tokens in Traffic Arbitrage
In traffic arbitrage, tokens are used to automate work and manage a large number of accounts. They can be used to:
-
work with multiple advertising accounts from one interface — connect them to automated ad launch tools and other software, launch campaigns, change budgets and settings without constantly logging into each account through a browser;
-
connect ready-made accounts faster — when purchasing an account, a token may be included with other data. Depending on its type, it is used to log in or connect the profile to the required software;
-
collect statistics — retrieve data from advertising accounts and transfer it to trackers and analytics services.
Important to Know
A token may have a limited validity period. It may also stop working after logging out of the account, changing the password, ending the session or revoking previously granted access. The specific conditions depend on the platform and token type.
