Google added an AI agent to Ad Manager

The End of Manual Management: Google Implements an AI Agent in Ad Manager

It looks like webmasters' struggles in Ad Manager are coming to an end — Google has announced the deployment of a Gemini-powered AI agent called Ask Ad Manager.

The End of Manual Management: Google Implements an AI Agent in Ad Manager-1

What Ask Ad Manager Can Do

The main pain point of Ad Manager is its complex interface. To find the reason behind a drop in revenue or to set up a campaign, one has to dig through logs and tabs for hours. Now, you can write a request in plain text, and the AI will find the cause itself.

Three main functions:

  • Audit and error correction. If you notice that CPM has dropped or a banner has stopped running, write to the AI: “Why did CPM drop on the mobile unit top_banner this week?”. The algorithm will scan the placement, find the cause, and provide a ready answer.

  • On-demand analytics. Compiling complex reports always takes a lot of time. Now you can generate unique metrics, export market benchmarks, or compare the profitability of different formats with a single prompt. The AI will gather the data into a table and deliver ready-to-use analytics.

  • Interface navigation. Finding a hidden setting in Ad Manager is quite a quest. The agent will point out where the necessary button is located and explain how to correctly optimize parameters for your specific tasks.

REST API and MCP Server for Pros

For large media and developers, Google has prepared another update. Following beta testing, the platform will receive a full-fledged REST API and support for an MCP server. This means that third-party AI models and external systems will be able to communicate directly with Google Ad Manager. Managing campaigns, optimizing setups, distributing traffic, and swapping creatives can be completely delegated to automated systems. Manual intervention will be minimized.

When to Expect It

The beta version of Ask Ad Manager launches in June 2026. Initially, large English-speaking publishers will get access, and then the feature will be rolled out worldwide.

Google is shifting its services toward complete autonomy. For publishers, this will allow them to optimize team size and cut down on routine work. The platform is becoming simpler, faster, and more intuitive, and analytics will now be understood even by those who have never worked with complex spreadsheets.
