AI Search Converts Better Than Google

AI Search vs. Google: Why Neural Networks Convert 5 Times Better Than Classical SEO

AffiliateBooster analysts have dropped a fresh report, and the numbers are making marketers frantically recalculate their budgets. It turns out that traffic from ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity converts nearly 5 times better than standard Google search. As it happens, people looking for products via Google are reluctant to buy — only two or three out of a hundred countries actually complete a purchase. Meanwhile, those who ask for advice from ChatGPT or Perplexity place orders much more frequently, with 14 out of a hundred users making a purchase. That is five times more. Here are the figures from the report:

  • Google Search — 2.8% conversion rate.

  • AI search engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) — 14% conversion rate.

Why is the difference so massive?

It all comes down to user psychology and the quality of the search results.

Google today is a massive flood of ads, spam, and long SEO texts written strictly for keywords. Users have to dig through all this for hours just to find something useful.

AI search engines deliver a precise answer with zero fluff. A person goes into ChatGPT, gets a specific recommendation, and their trust in this advice is exceptionally high. They are already warmed up and don't need to compare 10 different options — they just do what the neural network suggested. Such users are ready to pay immediately.

What to do

Major teams have already started cutting budgets for classical SEO. Why spend years bringing an article to the top of Google if you can get a neural network to recommend your offer?

A new beast has arrived to replace habitual SEO — GEO (Generative Engine Optimization). This is the optimization of content for generative engines so that AI models cite you and recommend your products to users.

Of course, you can't just go ahead and launch ads inside ChatGPT itself. However, you can optimize your website for artificial intelligence.

  • Write clear text. Articles on websites need to be structured into simple paragraphs and clear lists so that crawler bots can easily read and scrape them into their database.

  • Work on reputation and reviews. Chatbots only look for information on reliable and well-known platforms. You need to ensure that your product's name appears frequently on high-quality resources, which will lead the AI to start recommending it to people.

  • Add links for robots. Format the text in a way that allows the neural network to automatically insert the right purchase link when delivering its answer.

For now, there are far fewer users in chatbots than in good old Google. But this traffic source is growing every single day. Those who start figuring out how to get robots to recommend their products right now will capture the hottest and cheapest buyers.
