Verified account — is an account whose owner has passed identity verification. To do this, the platform usually asks the owner to upload a passport or another document, and sometimes — take a selfie or confirm the information in another way.
After successful verification, the platform knows that the account is being used by a real person rather than an anonymous profile without verified information. On some platforms, access to advertising, payment tools, and other features is only available after verification.
Where Verified Accounts Are Used
Verification is used on almost all major online platforms. It is completed in advertising accounts, social networks, crypto exchanges, payment services, and marketplaces. On some platforms, identity verification remains optional, while on others, some features simply do not work without it.
Important to Know
A verified account should not be confused with a PZRD account (ad restriction removed). Any account becomes verified after successful identity verification. A PZRD account — is an account that was first banned from advertising, then passed verification and regained access to advertising.
It is also important to remember that verification rules depend on the platform. Some services only ask users to confirm their identity, while others may additionally request company documents, a residential address, or other information.
